The 2045 Long Range Transportation Plan is the Fayette/Raleigh MPO's regional transportation plan.  It provides a 25-year blueprint for the transportation investments in the region to the year 2045.  This plan is multimodal, meaning it addresses travel by all modes on the transportation system including streets and highways, bikeways and walkways, public transportation, rail and aviation.

Notice of Intent to Update the Fayette/Raleigh Metropolitan Planning Organization Long-Range Transportation Plan and Public Open House

The Fayette-Raleigh Metropolitan Planning Organization (FRM) announces its intent to update the Long-Range Transportation Plan for Fayette and Raleigh Counties and host a public open house on September 3, 2026.

As the Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO) for Fayette and Raleigh Counties, FRM is required by federal law to produce a long-range transportation plan (LRTP) and update it every five years. The LRTP will identify recommended improvements to the transportation system for the next 25 years. The LRTP will be a multi-modal plan, considering needs related to streets and highways, public transportation, bikeways and walkways, rail, and aviation.

We invite you to submit comments on current transportation system conditions to help guide the development of this plan update. You may submit comments or ask questions about this process by contacting:

When the draft plan is available for public review, FRM will publish another public notice notifying the public. Additionally, we will be holding a public open house on September 3rd from 4 – 6 pm at the City of Beckley City Council Chambers (409 S Kanawha St, Beckley, WV 25801) to review the draft plan. This come-and-go-style event will give community members an opportunity to ask questions about the proposed projects and provide input on the draft plan. More information will be available as the meeting gets closer. For now, save the date!

The draft plan is expected to go for approval and adoption by the FRM Policy Board in the fall of 2026.
